(CNN) – While most fail to get a $ 20 return on a scratch, a Michigan man walked away with $ 4 million twice.
“You don’t think you’ll win millions once, and you certainly never think it would happen twice,” said Mark Clark of South Rockwood, Mich., After his last win this month.
“It’s hard to express in words exactly how I feel.
Clark is 50 years old. His luck story begins three years ago.
At the time, it was delivering fuel to a gas station in Hudson, Michigan. He bought an instant lottery ticket and scratched the barcode. The note said to see the clerk – and he did.
“While we were talking, he scratched off the rest of the bill, then looked at me in shock and said, ‘Mark, you just won $ 4 million!’ He said at the time.
He picked up his truck at work, drove to his parents’ house to share the news – and soon after, retired.
Fast forward to this month.
Once again, Clark bought an instant play ticket – and again, he won. Again, it was $ 4 million.
“I scratched the ticket in the store with a coin my dad gave me about 10 years ago,” he said, according to a statement from the Michigan Lottery.
“We lost it about a year ago after some health issues, and I can’t help but think that this lucky coin maybe helped me earn that.”
He says he will go back to his old quiet life. His old quiet retirement and fishing life, of course.
“My dad and I always used to fish together and have fond memories of it, so it will help me continue to fish and spend time with my son and family.”
