LCP Executive Director Madam Juli Endee, while presenting the prizes to deserved winners in a transparent raffle organized by the National Lottery Authority (NLA) at LCP headquarters on Capitol Bye-pass, said the draw takes place on Christmas Eve as a manifestation of the existing peace in the country and hope that Liberians from all walks of life will embrace and continue to cultivate peace during and after the holiday season.

The raffle was held in two categories, with the first category featuring four prizes including a 50 inch flat screen TV, Chester freezer, 18,000 BTU air conditioner and a bed set. The second category which was the grand prize was a new 2018 Ford Figo model vehicle.

The 50 inch flat screen TV was won by Miss Etta Seton of Brewerville City outside Monrovia and the Chester Freezer was won by teenage boy Kennedy Reeves who then brought her father to take delivery of the award while the 18,000 BTU air conditioner was won by Mr. Josiah Sumo from Harbel, Margibi country. The Grand Prize winner, the 2018 Ford Figo model was absent during the draw but the raffle organizers promised to display the winning number at LCP headquarters and urged the winner to identify themselves and take delivery of the vehicle.

Giving a brief history of the raffle, Ms. Juli Endee explained that the raffle was launched on March 10, 2019 at Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia. She said the first draw was on March 16, 2019, when people won prizes, including macro waves, a generator and a motorcycle. She said the top prize in that draw was a motorcycle and was won by a resident of West Point Township in Monrovia.

According to her, the second draw took place on July 20, 2019 and the lucky winners left with an HP laptop and a motorbike. “On October 24, 2019, the third draw took place and people won coats that included accessory parts, a gas stove, a sewing machine and a home theater. »Amb. Endee.

Following the suspension of the draw due to the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, it resumes on October 24, 2020, when a rice cooker, children’s toys, home theater and a motorcycle were among the prizes won by the lucky winners; while in November 2020, a glass table, sewing machine, refrigerator, home theater, 32-inch flat-screen TV and a tricycle were all won, she revealed.

The final draw on December 24, 2020 which was interspersed with spontaneous questions posed to spectators who graced the opportunity to win gifts including cash, t-shirts. Caps and 25kg rice bags also included a dance competition for the same gifts.
