Powerball hit the $ 8 million jackpot after no one took home the $ 3 million Division One prize.
The winning numbers in Thursday night’s 1278 draw were 6, 19, 11, 23, 9, 24 and 14 and the Powerball is 20.

Powerball’s $ 20 million winner last week was “quite the character” according to Powerball spokesman Matt Hart.
“I’m sure he spent the last week happily celebrating and thinking about how he will use his award,” Mr. Hart said.
The winner didn’t learn the news until the next morning.
“While we tried to call him right after the draw on Thursday night, we only managed to reach him on Friday morning,” Hart said.
“It’s a great reminder for all players to save your entries to a player card or online account so that we can contact you if you win, and also to answer your phone if you see it ringing after a draw, because that could be us with some good news! “

While no Australian has yet won a $ 3million Powerball prize in 2020, Mr Hart said the winning drought could end this week.
“In fact, the last time a $ 3 million Powerball prize was won was almost two years ago to the day – November 15, 2018,” he said.
“But maybe that will change this week and we will host our 12th Powerball Division, a winner of the year in the draw to be held on November 12th.”
So far this year, the 11 Powerball 1 division winning entries have taken home over $ 420 million. Five of the wins came in Queensland, four in New South Wales and two in Victoria.
For a chance to win the prize, bettors picked their favorite seven numbers and a Powerball number ahead of Thursday night’s draw.
There are nine prize divisions in Powerball. You can win a prize with as few as two winning numbers plus the Powerball number in one game.
To win the Division 1 jackpot, your entry must match all seven winning numbers plus the Powerball number in a single game.
